Now there is a difference between self-fulfillment and self-fulfilling. Both have the option of creating a life of abundant joy and contentment. However, the latter has a way of creating situations that are the result of our actions. Yet, because we cannot see the choice we have on these actions we often blame them on external factors rather than looking and analyzing our own actions.

Psychologist are very familiar with self-fulfilling prophecy. Study after study have proven its existence. This phenomenon is even more powerful when the “prophecy” is subconscious. How is THAT for something that will blow your mind!

What is a self-fulfilling prophecy? It’s in our head where we expect an outcome so we behave in ways to ensure that outcome occurs.

And what does this have to do with cats? Well, cats are masters at the self-fulfilling prophecy. They expect to get fed at certain times, so they consciously exhibit behavior that ensures proper feedings. Cats are also masters of letting others know their thoughts.

However in humans, this phenomenon is more subtle. Generally our thoughts tend to the negative. We expect people to treat us a certain way so we act in ways that ensure the behavior comes about. For example. If someone is scarred of abandonment, they will act in ways that will keep people away so that they are in fact “abandoned” but they blame it externally on the other person.

The good news is that this phenomenon can also be used to create wonderful scenarios in your life. Say you are single, like me, and you think that every person you meet is going to be attracted to you and want to ask you out. How would you begin to act differently? Would you dress differently? Would you smile more?

Cats use the act of self-fulfilling to create self-fulfillment. Today I urge you to do the same!
