Grace is In the Place

Posted on

CCL is on the move again. This time to Florida.  For a time it means I will have Grace, the overweight but lovable Tabby that CCL adopted.

Preparing for Grace

Posted on

Grace is coming to stay with me for a few days as CCL has to tend to some things.   Grace is the cat formerly known as “Cher.”  You may recall from an earlier post ( Sonny Gets Adopted-https://catsandallthat.com/2018/05/19/sonny-gets-adopted/  ) .  She is a rescue Tabby who had been abused and overfed.  She is now a  healthier, happier, delightful member of the CCL household.

Grace will, of course, eat special food during her stay in Washington, D.C. (CCL is picky) and have her water served courtesy of a filtered system (don’t want her drinking DC water).  Special playthings and cushions are being set up.

Not sure if she will attack my vinyl blinds ( previous sets famously demolished by Roxie, Koko and Jean Claude in the past) but we will see.

I do know that by her namesake she will bring peace and certainty of spirit.  She is also full of love.

Why Cats Are Cool All Year Round

Summer is, of course, hot and humid as always in Washington, D.C.   Cats, however, are always cool.

Decisions, Decisions

The quality of our lives depends in large part on our choices.    We can choose to be angry and upset.  We can choose to let the misguided motorist drive in front of our car on the freeway.  We can chose joy.  We are not completely powerless.  God directs our lives but He gives us choices.

The Art of Connection

Posted on

I paid a visit to my daughter who now lives in Philadelphia.  For those who read this blog on a regular basis, you know that Koko and Jean Claude have moved on.  Crazy Cat Lady (CCL)  is now fostering two cats,  Sonny and Cher.  Apparently, the cats reflect the reported later stage of their namesakes’ relationship in that the cats are in conflict at times.  Still, within an hour of my visit Cher, a chubby, striped Tabby and Sonny, a frisky black Bombay, were all over me.  Cher, measured and reserved, settled for just laying across my chest, while Sonny wanted, demanded constant play.

Humans are like that in that we require varying degrees of attention and connection.  We also require validation.  something cats as a species don’t seem to need.  I have found there is an art to the ability to connect and understand.  I wonder if it can be taught but I know that it’s important to find points of commonality when dealing with humans and with cats.
