Summer is, of course, hot and humid as always in Washington, D.C. Cats, however, are always cool.
Summer Favorites
An old summer favorite, featuring the Roxie and Jean Claude
Roxie and Jean Claude, while primarily housecats, enjoy the outdoors. Well, Roxie not so much , although she likes sitting on the back porch steps or peering out the open windows to check out what’s going on. She will on ocassion come to supervise my work in the garden or to let “Rocky” the urban squirrel know that he is not to climb the huge pine tree in my backyard.
In Search of Kindness
It’s been several months since Koko, a domestic shorthair, decided to take off from CCL’s house for parts unknown. I still think of her and her kindness and affection. (so much for cats not being affectionate).
Now CCL has Grace, a tabby, a foster that we are both considering for adoption. It is clear that Grace was once abused tortured and overfed. She has because of the kindness of CCL become affectionate, playful and healthy. Kindness heals. I like to think that Koko is spreading her special brand of it to another family.
When It Comes to Predicting Behavior How Can We Really Know?
It’s said “Lean Not to Your Own Understanding.” Case in point
We all are sensitive to stereotypes. When it comes to our pets we rely on on a certain level of predictability. Dogs act this way. Cats act that way. The truth is there really are no rules. We can’t predict how animals will behave in certain situations. A recent YouTube video is an example.
Sonny Gets Adopted
Sonny, the cute cuddly Kitten, is an orphan no more. He has been adopted. I liked Sonny, the one-time I met him while visiting CCL he was lively, playful and affectionate. The problem was Sonny seemed to terrorize Cher. CCL resolved the matter by taking Sonny to the Cat Cafe where of course he was an instant hit. Someone came to the cafe and decided Sonny should come live at their house. I hope they enjoy him as much as I did.
