Aquas De Marco (Waters of March)

Posted on

It has been a long winter in  Washington, D.C. .  This is  a town  where we used to get just a couple of snowstorms a year  but now we got snow and messy weather (for this region) on a regular basis.  It definitely put a cramp in Jean Claude and Koko’s activities as they like to go in CCL’s backyard and explore.   The winter season  had a pretty dramatic impact on me as well.  There were disappointments , some sadness, some hurt but now I find myself feeling happy  again with knowledge that many blessings are coming with  the spring.

One of my favorite songs by Antonio Jobim – Aquas De Marco-  literally says it all

By the way this month, starts the fifth anniversary of “Cats and All That”  go to our Facebook  page and say hi.

Snowbound Gratitude

Posted on

Snow covers Washington DC  – the result of a record snowfall. Jean Claude, the black Bombay and Koko, the domestic shorthair are at CCL’s house relaxing and monitoring the weather to determine if they want to go in the snow.  They are patient and don’t feel trapped .   We should ‘t either.   Being snowbound presents opportunities – rest, reading, eating snack food, binge TV  and of course shoveling and limited snow sport.  Still, those of us blocked from our normal activities and travels from snow can still explore. It is a time to reflect, to remember the things and the amazing people in your life.  Gratitude

Choose Peace

Koko, the domestic shorthair and Jean Claude, the Black Bombay live the life. They eat, venture outside a bit, play and sleep. They enjoyed Christmas especially helping to unwrap presents.

Yes we are in the midst of the holiday season. New Year’s is coming. Christmas is past. Kwanzaa is here. These events implore upon us to celebrate, spend time with family and friends, enjoy good food, fun, rest, relax and find spiritual and life renewal.

Still there are a lot of people who choose negativity. They show you their dark side : envy, naysaying or inappropriate behavior all the while proclaimIng their good intentions. Many also live in a constant state of turmoil or indecision and want you to embrace their drama. They want to drag you into their nonsense.

It is time to cut the cord. Banish these bottom feeders from your life. It is time to seek new options, new horizons, positivity, hope. Choose peace.

Do Unto Others

Pope Francis paid a visit to the U.S. this week.   He literally made a stop in my neighborhood of Brookland  DC in fact I can see the Basillica from my house and yes I hear the bells on the hour..  Truth be told the vibe in my neighborhood aka “Little Rome,” is always pretty positive but it took on an added “feel good” air during his visit.  One thing the Pope  quoted the Bible Luke 6:31  to a joint session of Congress  “Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You.”   Interesting in a culture where it’s usually do unto others before they Do unto you.  Unfortunately in Congress, as well as other parts of the city the latter creed seems to persist, the real question is why.   All the back-stabbing, undermining and belittling – why?  Does it really mean success for those who engage in small acts of emotional terrorism?  I like to believe the answer is NO.  I’m with Pope Francis on this one. Ultimately a higher power decides.
