There are friends and people in your life that are only meant to be kept for a season. The length of that season is up to you. I’m told that people can’t and don’t change but we do every day. No one day is the same. Grace, the tabby cat, does have a routine but she is always flexible. Sometimes change is a good thing. It is hard but worth the effort.
Beauty Queens
An “oldie but beauty” featuring the late Roxie
Drama. Drama. Drama. With the event of the “Real Housewives,” “Jerseylicious,” “Basketball Wives” and other similarly themed shows the “so called” real lives of selectly cast Americans are on display for the rest of us to see. Diversions, table turning, eye rolling, hair pulling etc. all under the watchful and intriqued eyes of us. And yes, this passes for entertainment, I admit, I watch but just how real is it all. I’ve met some of the “real housewives,” and “basketball wives,” they have been smart, gracious and glamorous. Like the rest of us they seek validation beyond their exteriors. I remember the hit song “Everyone is Beautiful” in his or her own way. I am blessed to know a lot of beautiful people inside and out and of course Roxie, a true queen.
Trust
People talk about cats being aloof, but in our experience that hasn’t been the case. CCL recently adopted two cats and immediately they began to trust her and her partner. There was no awkward period. No downtime before all they wanted to do was snuggle or be next to their humans.
How do we learn to trust? I’ve heard the saying consistent actions over time. But some of us grow up in environments where we are quick to trust others. Some of us doubt people repeatedly until it becomes so hard to trust people as to limit our opportunities.
Trust is a balancing act as precarious as CCL’s new kitten Bailey (pictured here in her all black, making sue her brother Braithwaite is resting well) when she walks behind the TV.
