What Is It You Want Anyway??

Posted on

There is so much to be said about being clear about one’s goals. A lot of people really don’t know what they want and they rely on outside sources and other people to tell them what is best. Problem is sometimes other people, even loved ones operate or tell us what is good for us as it serves their best interests – and not ours. People, particularly those we love, often fear our need to change or to grow. Why?? It means change for them or as well and sometimes it also means the new and improved you can no longer fulfill their needs. There is nothing wrong with putting yourself first, showing yourself love and adoration. It can be the start to loving, giving and growing to your fullest capacity.

August Blues

As I write this the House of Representatives is preparing to vote on the debt ceiling bill. A deal was approved last evening…but I digress as this blog is apolitical. Still, usually around this time members of Congress are planning their trips home to their districts but this time with so many other political elements, alliances etc. in place, the members like the rest of us are suffering the summer blues, hot weather and hot water. The rest of the world is watching and waiting.

Summer Favorites

Roxie and Jean Claude, while primarily housecats, enjoy the outdoors. Well, Roxie not so much , although she likes sitting on the back porch steps or peering out the open windows to check out what’s going on. She will on ocassion come to supervise my work in the garden or to let “Rocky” the urban squirrel know that he is not to climb the huge pine tree in my backyard.

Roxie Hid My Shoes

Roxie and Jean Claude went to the vet the other day. Roxie’s arrival was greated with an “ah Roxie” by the receptionist. She is quite something but CCL said she was well behaved during the visit. “Jean Claude was the one who showed his tail” CCL reports. Roxie, a female Japanese bobtail, and Jean Claude, a male Bombay, have been at their other residence, my daughter Crazy Cat Lady’s house, for about a week. Yesterday I went to visit them. Roxie was very friendly and chatty. I fell asleep on the sofa and she jumped on top of me meowing for me to wake up. When I got up to go home my shoes were missing. Could of sworn I removed them when I was downstairs although I did go upstairs to visit briefly with Jean Claude who was napping on CCL’s bed. Later found the shoes upstairs by CCL’s dresser. Similar to the California Klepto Kitty – Dusty.

Blinds, Birds and Trash Trucks

JC at the Bedroom Window

Jean Claude is a peace-loving animal.   He looks out my bedroom window and actually tries to chat with the birds.  Roxie, as those of you who read this blog know, is not so accomodating.    Like most Bombays JC thinks he’s a dog and wants his belly rubbed. Last night he needed extra attention. Ms. Roxie was not  pleased as she feels her need for nighttime attention supersedes his or anyone else’s for that matter.  Eventually the fur began to fly…yes, at 3 am and on my bed!!  Then, détente.  Later Jean Claude made an early  morning request  that the blinds to my bedroom window  be raised — by patting them– to accommodate his need to view his kingdom aka my backyard.  Wednesday is trash day and for whatever reason he seems to find the process of trash collection fascinating.
