Like This and LIke That and Like Cat MEOW

Posted on

Koko, the domestic short-hair and Jean Claude, the black Bombay follow their own rhythm.  They have rituals that play out daily including sleeping with CCL and letting her know their preferences when it comes to what kind of food they want and where they want to go to the bathroom.   Often they remind me of the song by Dr. Dre and Snoop  Dog – Like This and Like That  and Like This…except in cat language.

Here’s the video:

Pet of the Week

Koko made pet of the week at the Brookland Bridge. My former neighbors do a fantastic blog about life in Brookland. From an objective standpoint it is truly a neighborhood blog. It talks about life, dining, development, happenings, pets, real estate. I wonder how they do it!

Check it out if you have the time. I’m sure even if you don’t live in Brookland you can find something that will spark your curiosity!

Looking beyond

Push! Dig deep! These are words you hear when someone is helping someone push. But what does that have to be with looking beyond? Well, first, look beyond what you see. For example, Azeena posted about Jean-Claude turning on the bathroom faucet. Well, what Azeena didn’t know was that I have become JC’s personal water butler. Whenever I walk past the bathroom he jumps in the tub and demands that I turn on the faucet for him. And don’t worry, we clean out the tub very well.

The other night I caught him sleeping in the tub. I guess he felt like this would ensure he would always get water! But what does this mean? It means that what you see might not always be the case for what’s happening. JC wasn’t turning on the faucet, it was me.

One data point does not a straight line make.

My only resolution is to try to think of things in a positive light. If you have one interaction with someone, a waitress that is rude, someone in a rush, instead of taking the negative view, I’m going to take the positive. Maybe they had a fight with their boyfriend or maybe there is a sick relative in the car. I tell you that this takes work and requires me to push and dig deep. Our first reaction is that people do things to us rather than responding based on their own experiences.

Just as it requires two points to make a line, it requires more than just a single encounter to fully understand someone.*
*Please note the one example to this is online dating. If someone sends you a message that is crass, rude, disrespectful immediately respond accordingly. Don’t ask me why this is but just trust me 🙂

Thinking positively is far more difficult than I thought it would be. But I continue to push! and dig deep!

My basement back door  until recently didn’t have a bottom screen, so  when ever I opened the door Koko, the domestic shorthair ,would simply go between the security bars and  out into the yard.  Finally felt a little better and fixed it yesterday.  This morning, though still a bit with cold, I  decided to take  to the yard to do a little pruning.  I opened the basement door and BAM Koko ran straight up against the screen.  No the little darling was not hurt, simply suprised as she tried to peel through the screen hole Jean Claude opened two years ago when he decided to re-enter my house without my help – March, 2010 blog “The Cat Door: Paging Mr. Serling.”  Well she did..it.it nit So once I opened the door to let her out she was a little more cautious – first surveying the yard, going to sit on my new outdoor chair and then for a brief time coming inside for a few minutes.  She darted in the yard and up her tree to watch the world.  As Jean Claude, at peace, quietly chewed grass and contemplated his plans for the day.
