So here we are – 14 days (or 15 days depending on your time zone) into a new decade. Often we use the event of a new year to make change. At the start of 2020, many of us started work on our resolutions to do better, be better or at least seem better. Maybe we wanted to lose a few pounds or change jobs or adjust our attitudes. Those resolutions – promises to ourselves and to the world – are for some us already broken but we are just fine. God loves us, just as we are and we can begin again tomorrow. One Day At A Time, life gives us fresh options.

It’s a New Era – One Day At A Time
Living with Grace
It has now been more than a year since Grace, the overweight Tabby, came to live with me. Grace at one point was tramautized easily. She now is happy and very comfortable in her adopted surroundings.
It is said that cats provide good company. I would like to say that cats are good company for those who provide good company for them.
Grace is very vocal and can be very demanding at times. She also has some people preferences and makes those known as well. Of course, she loves CCL. The biggest thing is Grace is at peace with who she is and she genuinely loves and cares for those around her.

Preparation
I admit it. I am a perfectionist. I like things that have order and purpose. That’s the thing about sharing custody of cats. They are clean and persnickety but they need care and your furniture is subject to their moods. Cats rule. This week Koko comes to stay with me for an extended time period. As I am a big fan of HGTV, particularly “Fixer Upper,” I’ve begun the work needed to make her as comfortable as possible. Her jumping chair is strategically placed for her to jump to the top of my dining room hutch and of course, custom blinds have been installed in the porch window of my house for her viewing pleasure.
I am a perfectionist but I’m learning.
Here Is Wonderful
For many 2016 was a tough year. For some including me it was a time to let go of some situations and people who were not conducive to personal or professional growth. We’re here now -2017 has arrived. The New Year brings us promise and hope for positive change. As I move in a new direction with a new year in bloom, despite challenges, there is a is a lot to be grateful for and I am happy that I am present. I learned to enjoy life without the need for prestige. I have a wonderful group of friends I enjoy. I live in a wonderful neighborhood, Brookland, DC. It has taken me years to get to a place where I choose peace and I am still not an expert. It helps that Koko is one of my “life coaches.” Though she likes attention, for Koko it’s often a matter of finding the right box for a nap.
The Great Escape
Koko and Jean Claude really enjoy their time outdoors at CCL’s new house. Unfortunately Koko really wants to explore the neighborhood and has found several escape routes. CCL has attempted to block the free spaces in her backyard with plastic containers and has installed a warning system (the orange plastic container at the top of the fence). No matter. Yesterday afternoon, Koko managed to escape to her nextdoor neighbors yard and quietly returned when she was ready.
(This Post ran in March of 2013 but not much has changed at CCL’s house – Great Escapes continue to happen daily)
