Snow covers Washington DC – the result of a record snowfall. Jean Claude, the black Bombay and Koko, the domestic shorthair are at CCL’s house relaxing and monitoring the weather to determine if they want to go in the snow. They are patient and don’t feel trapped . We should ‘t either. Being snowbound presents opportunities – rest, reading, eating snack food, binge TV and of course shoveling and limited snow sport. Still, those of us blocked from our normal activities and travels from snow can still explore. It is a time to reflect, to remember the things and the amazing people in your life. Gratitude

Find Peace
CCL and I had a marvelous time at the Prince “Rally4Peace” concert in Baltimore. There’s been a lot of talk about peace. The events in Baltimore – no justice no peace. The call for peace. Yes, social justice must come. Peace must come. For us all the struggle for inner peace is also challenging. To live fully, we must find it within ourselves on a daily basis. It does not come naturally or easily and it is often hard fought. I believe inner peace comes for sure through a connection with God and a connection with yourself. Yes, as you own yourself you will find the elusive peace.
I am the ultimate “Prince” fan but for this blog Sashal Vansandi’s song “No More” speaks to owning yourself and finding your peace.
By the way the Washington Humane Society staff pick of the week is Maulty the cat. You can find more about her here.

Brookland DC – An Up and Coming Neighborhood
My Brookland DC neighborhood has recently become an up and coming neighborhood with housing prices escalating and fun new restaurants. Jean Claude, the Black Bombay and Koko, the celebrity cat have demanded that their accomodations be modified to reflect this upwardly mobile trend – with not one but two cardboard houses.
From BuzzFeed: Cats Who Made Mistakes
Although Koko likes Brookland DC she is guilty of #12

Pet of the Week
Koko made pet of the week at the Brookland Bridge. My former neighbors do a fantastic blog about life in Brookland. From an objective standpoint it is truly a neighborhood blog. It talks about life, dining, development, happenings, pets, real estate. I wonder how they do it!
Check it out if you have the time. I’m sure even if you don’t live in Brookland you can find something that will spark your curiosity!
