Cats are often known
to sleep 80 percent of the day. Ok I heard that somewhere. Animal Planet?? Maybe. I don’t know I don’t get the impression that Roxie and Jean Claude ever sleep – at least not while at my house. Racket, hissing, meowing, preening and request for play go on all night long . Maybe they sleep at CCL’s. In fact, Roxie seems to enjoy watching late night television with me. She has of late become a fan of the “The Nanny.” Also as my Tivo is not working properly I have taken to using Namaste Yoga DVDs. Roxie usually walks the mat – I guess to supervise as she clearly is a yoga fanatic. I often catch her in full and unique pose by the stairs – stretched in Supta Badda Konasana (bent angle pose) or classic cat pose.

Roxie Does Yoga
Boys and Their Toys
I just found out my nephew Evan, just over one year old, is starting to walk. Evan likes to dance, so does Roxie, she loves music of all kinds. Evan like his “cousin” Jean Claude also likes to make noise. Give Evan a spoon and a pan and sit him in the middle of the floor and bang – bang/pop pop. Recently I’ve had a few deliveries…this has meant empty boxes much to Jean Claude’s delight and while he can’t quite manage a spoon he does love the sound of the box as he pounds against it with his paws.
The Catfather – Dedicated to Pirate
Cats sometimes like to bring their owners little presents. Years ago my sister “Li” owned a black cat named Pirate. Pirate used to like to roam in the woods behind Li’s apartment building. He sometimes brought home a little present, an empty can of yogurt, a dead bird, and small dead mouse. For Pirate it was love and my sister seemed to understand.
One of my coworkers told me the other day his young daughter had been particularly fond of a cat who only seemed to have love for her and her alone. The cat slept in her bed nightly, under the covers , that was until the fateful day the cat– out of love ?? — left a headless bird in her bed. Yep, the little girl pulled back the covers, just like in the “The Godfather” movie and there was the decapitated birdie. The family soon purchased a new mattress for the distraught little girl who after some months found love again for her feline friend although he was no longer allowed to sleep in her bed.
A Time of Growth and Renewal
Jean Claude is sitting at my back porch steps after some early morning conversation with my neighbor Bonnie’s dog “Six” and another dog across the alley. 7:30 am in the morning. Kind of loud Spring is his favorite time of the year it seems.
