Morning Constitutional

Posted on

When at my house, Roxie and Jean Claude have a morning routine. If I am not up by a certain time Roxie jumps on the bed and gets in my face to wake me up.   After I go through a couple of my own morning rituals, I go downstairs quickly followed by Jean Claude and Roxie who usually stop to take in a little breakfast and then wait for me to open the back porch door so they can go outside.   JC generally likes to go and hang for awhile. When the neighbors let their dogs out and the dogs bark,  he sits in the grass unphased, ocassionally dialouginng with birds.   Roxie of course is well sheself. Of late she’s taken to plopping on  my easy chair in my outdoor sitting room underneath the back porch. Just chillin.

Fireworks and Peace

Roxie and Jean Claude spent their holiday weekend at CCL’s house. For whatever reason Roxie would not let CCL sleep. She meowed and howled all night for several nights and snuck outside several times to CCL’s dismay. In addition, Jean Claude also seemed to be a bit naughty – but then did what most males do and went to his cave. I paid a visit to CCL’s yesterday and it seemed things had calmed down. According to CCL the other fireworks didn’t seem to bother them.

A Drink From A Certain Fountain

There is an old “Twilight Zone” episode, “A Drink From A Certain Fountain” in which a man wishing to impress his younger wife takes a youth enhancing drug to most interesting consequences. Recently I had the opportunity to visit with friends, there was wine but also afterwards it felt like I had been slipped a mental “Mickey.” Dizzy and a bit disoriented I went to CCL’s house where I took a quick nap. Still, today trying to regain my composure. I guess the lesson is to always be careful from whose cup you drink. Encouragement, mental support and love are served up by friends but not always As humans we sometimes serve up confusion, discouragement, complaint and maybe envy. Always forgivenss is the answer – then it is also up to us to whether we want to take what someone suggests or infers about us with a grain of salt.

The Queen Must Be Amused

CCL calls Roxie a drama queen. She is a true Japanese bobtail and very prissy. Clearly she has a short attention span. Jean Claude, the male Bombay cat, can stay in the yard and watch the birds and dialouge with them for hours – ok for at least several minutes but if no food or fun is involved Roxie’s not having it. She’d rather watch Tivo with grandma. Yes, Lionel, that cat is watching television. Of course playing with her laser toy remains her favorite form of amusement.

Hotel Accomodations

Last week, once again had to deal with Roxie and a certain..hmph, hmph …reoccuring problem. That meant a litter box in my front room upstairs. Naturally Roxie was better in a few days but still felt the need to have an extra bathroom in her house. These cats…they lead a good life. Fancy Feast, outdoor lounge area and filtered water. A dog’s life often refers to the worse. Guess a cat’s life should be a slang term referring to all thing luxurious. At least Roxie thinks so.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you pet owners out there!!
